  1. Welcome to the forums Frida! ๐Ÿ˜€ Thanks for your introduction, it looks like we became fans around the same time! It was a happy accident getting that extra ticket, going to a Nightwish show is certainly a good way to get hooked forever! ๐Ÿ˜„ By the way, are you attending any of the current concerts in Finland?
  2. Crossing fingers for you! ๐Ÿค˜ It's been a long wait. I wonder what their stage setup will look like in North America, I presume the neon strips, raised stage and triple screens will go in favour of a single screen and flat stage. I've added more videos from Tampere, I'm still looking for a good recording of The Greatest Show On Earth. A few more things I noticed: People really jumped when Dark Chest of Wonders went out with a bang! ๐Ÿ˜ Also very nice camera work on I Want My Tears Back, with all the stage screens displaying close-ups of the band members. I don't remember them doing this before. Right at the start of Nemo, Floor got hit with a massive static shock when she touched her mike. ๐Ÿ˜ฎโšก
  3. They could do it, given that they rehearsed it for the virtual show. Crossing fingers, what they play in Toronto will probably be on the menu in Montreal as well! ๐Ÿ˜ I'm truly impressed at how well Floor managed How's The Heart and Shoemaker, given the flu and the way she struggled a bit with some of the previous songs.
  4. Updating the playlist with available videos from Tampere: Noise https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dgxoyq-423A Planet Hell https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_ogIuRxQK0 Tribal https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yEol4U8ddRY ร‰lan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dg1Qq6psNHU Storytime https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwuNRX8kGU4 She Is My Sin https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WE1aLhPa2DM Harvest https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmQREUGsUTA 7 Days to the Wolves https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KqwsZescjo0 Dark Chest of Wonders https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEBJS1RDeP8 I Want My Tears Back https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWS6SISXPR8 Ever Dream https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYZxjQ_FRDc Nemo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnJELB1foEc How's The Heart (acoustic) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUkEniUa704 Shoemaker https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAelYfUezTE Last Ride of the Day https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5pZem2lGjk Ghost Love Score https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cg1vbp9lViM The Greatest Show on Earth Ad Astra Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLaX-JP-lohRUA336-yXs5PZ8jqJmdTONY Truly exciting to hear them again live after this long break! Floor was obviously under the weather from the flu but she soldiered on and gave it all nonetheless. ๐Ÿค˜ Troy dedicated a song to Kimmo Ahola their sound engineer turning 60 saying that it was one that Kimmo never heard before... Nemo! ๐Ÿ˜‹
  5. Ok from my understanding the setlist was very similar to the last show... last year! ๐Ÿ˜ I'm working tonight so will probably scan YouTube for videos when I'm home and see how it went! ๐Ÿ™‚
  6. Oh no... ๐Ÿฅบ I totally blame Dutch TV! ๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜
  7. Let's see what we can expect tonight. This has been the setlist for the first 4 shows: Noise Planet Hell Tribal ร‰lan Storytime How's the Heart? (3) / She Is My Sin (1) Harvest 7 Days to the Wolves (2) Dark Chest of Wonders I Want My Tears Back Ever Dream (2) Nemo Sleeping Sun (3) / How's The Heart (acoustic) (1) Shoemaker (2) Last Ride of the Day Ghost Love Score The Greatest Show on Earth Ad Astra So far it's been either a long (18) or a short/festival (15) set, How's The Heart was either played acoustic or with the full band, and Sleeping Sun was swapped once with She Is My Sin.
  8. Oh boy... back again to talking about devil worshipping ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ˜„ Nice interview though. ๐Ÿ‘
  9. Ha that would be merciful, when I go back I can look for them again without going mad! ๐Ÿ˜ You can send me a private message if you feel like it. You were writing for Perkele? ๐Ÿ˜ฎ (what a name, BTW!) I had read an early interview from that magazine on the Taikatalvi site, from 1998 or 1999, but I don't know who the author was: http://nightwishtaikatalvi.epizy.com/article22.html. Indeed! I'm sad that so little archival material appears to have survived from that early tour, unless the band is sitting on a treasure trove of old tapes. Yeah, I read Marko's biography and the man totally deserved his big break and every bit of success and happiness that he managed to get in Nightwish. I was bit heartbroken thinking that despite his book ending (in 2017) on a positive note, he would be faced with his mental health issues again a few years down the road. I truly hope he's doing better now. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ That indeed! In retrospect do you think the book was worth it, considering all the hassle you must have endured in the wake of its release? Not only the lawsuit, but also probably lots of shit from some angry fans? Anyway, many thanks for the story! I don't remember seeing an author's biographical note in the book, so I was wondering how you ended up with this lucky (?) assignment! ๐Ÿค˜ Will the content be any different from the English version?
  10. He's saying that Nightwish having now acknowledged that reactors are important to their success on YouTube, they should reward them for it. There's probably a perceived imbalance between what reactors bring to the bands and what they get in exchange. But in truth I'm not sure who is helping the other more. ๐Ÿคจ And besides Tank is taking a revenge with his rant about Nightwish without actual Nightwish content that he is therefore free to monetize with the help of his Nightwish fanbase! Clever chap! ๐Ÿ˜„
  11. I agree with you there. She elevates the recorded material, while some singers struggle with their own songs on a live stage.
  12. Tank says that he is "...in no way trying to sit here and say we deserve money. These bands made this music, they have their rules set with their publisher. If they don't want us to use it, that's completely fine and acceptable. I accept it. I'm not arguing it. Totally cool." What he pretends being not happy with is that NW is bragging about their success in the reactor world while not supporting the reactors behind the scenes (by forfeiting copyright)... Which is basically asking for money from the band in exchange for the right to brag about reaction videos. ๐Ÿค” I guess he does have an axe to grind with Nightwish since "other bands" release their copyright when he asks them to (and he does ask them to). IMO if Nightwish were against reactors, they could have their content removed from YouTube since so many of them don't add significant value to the copyrighted content they use and repost. I guess that some bands just don't want to get involved with non-professional content creators/influencers/journalists/pretend vocal coaches. I'm done ranting now, sorry! ๐Ÿคญ
  13. I guess there's limited demand for sheet music compared to other band merchandise so it might not be a top priority. I thought Nightwish had their own publishing venture though (Deggael) or is it just another publisher they work with on a regular basis?

    Johanna Kurkela

I don't know what this is about, but Johanna posted about a collaboration with a Finnish rapper, Elastinen: johannakurkela_official https://www.instagram.com/p/CckbtECtkFJ/ Thank you @elastinen for yet another wonderful collaboration! โค๏ธ New song "Hetken tรคssรค kaikes on jรคrkee" coming out this Friday April 22!
  15. Another live performance of 'Fire' -- this time on Dutch TV, this must be exhausting work a couple of days before going on tour! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
  16. As posted on Floor World: @Ocean Soul Quick, now is your chance! ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ˜
  17. I hadn't noticed before, but Floor is now scheduled on the same day as Nightwish at Pinkpop Festival in the Netherlands on June 17, 2022. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Also, remember people claiming that Floor could sing the phonebook and still sound great? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcMJ-gfqd8k ๐Ÿคฃ Oh, she also sings 'Fire', live on NPO Radio 2.
  18. There are a number of new branded T-shirts and hoodies available from Backstage Rock Shop, with the "Established 1996" design. https://www.backstagerockshop.com/collections/nightwish Owls are cool. ๐Ÿ‘

    Delain

A Face Culture in-depth interview with Martijn Westerholt (joined during the interview by Robin La Joy Westerholt) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqpbPKDavic Some highlights: Splitting Delain felt like a divorce, it left a huge scar and Martijn hasn't spoken to the former band members since. Tuomas actually encouraged Martijn to ask Johanna to sing on Eye Of Melian, a project he had in mind for a couple of years already. Eye Of Melian started as a one-man project but eventually developed into a band. There are no clear plans to tour with EoM but if they can work out the challenge of bringing the orchestrations to stage they will consider it. The search for a new singer took Delain outside the borders of the Netherlands. They knew that whoever replaced Charlotte would draw a lot of criticism and they were searching a hugely talented lead figure. Martijn even scanned YouTube cover singers during his search. Having a lot of faith in the new signer fitting in, Martijn decided Delain could continue as a band instead of a project. A new Delain single can be expected this summer. A video for it will be filmed very shortly. Martijn's wife Robin will take over writing lyrics for Delain. The new Delain album is scheduled for an early 2023 release, and the band will also tour next year. A private Delain show is being planned for June 2022 with friends, family and perhaps a number of "special" fans, as a warm-up for the new singer. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
  20. The Paaspop setlist has been posted, the only new songs are Fire and Oblivion. By the time Floor does another solo tour (2023 as mentioned in the interview above?) perhaps she will have released new songs of her own. https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/floor-jansen/2022/manegeclub-de-molenheide-schijndel-netherlands-33b6c099.html
  21. The excitement is building! ๐Ÿ”ฅ Let's get this 2 3 4-year tour over with so Tuomas can focus on the new material! ๐Ÿ˜
  22. Internet being what it is, that innocent-looking comment has turned ugly on YouTube. Some reactors have taken issue with Nightwish "bragging" about their popularity on the reactor scene whilst not helping reactors monetize their work by surrendering the songs copyright. I'm not sure what to think of this storm in a teacup, including insinuations that Nightwish are using Reacticide Discord moderators to spy on and influence reactors. ๐Ÿคจ Of course bands/labels are free to give up their copyrights to reactors, and of course the reactor scene has probably helped extend the band's reach all over the world in the last few years and especially during the pandemic, but then nobody is forced to create content about a band if they can't profit from it. Is Nightwish using reactors (and social media in general) to their best effect as a modern-day advertising powerhouse? Most likely not, IMO their marketing team has stopped keeping up with the times in the mid-2000s or so. ๐Ÿ˜ Still, this guy and others are offended that NW are promoting their success attracting reactors while not encouraging them by surrendering copyrights. This success despite the impossibility to monetize reactions is quite telling, because reactors obviously still profit from their NW content by filling up on subscribers before moving on to other bands. Not only that, but this criticism comes from people who obviously find alternate ways to monetize their reactions, including those to Nightwish, by other means. Piece of evidence number 1: ๐Ÿค” (As always, feel free to disagree! There is probably an argument to be made for the reactors point of view but I just don't see it now.)
  23. New Floor interview in German media, hopefully the translation works for you: "Some people when they hear the word 'metal' they go, 'No, I don't want that!' Elisa Eberle - 17 April 2022 https://www-weser--kurier-de.translate.goog/kultur/wenn-manche-leute-das-wort-metal-hoeren-sagen-sie-gleich-nein-ich-moechte-das-nicht-doc7klo23e9vxzzcy5hngn?_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=wapp
  24. I wonder, is YouTube keeping tabs? Edit: Oh there's more on Facebook: "Among the most popular videos on YouTube are the so-called reaction videos, where YouTubers around the world describe their own reactions when watching TV series, movie trailers or music videos and live recordings of different artists and bands. The videos show a wide range of genuine and spontaneous emotions from the reactors which makes the reaction videos popular. Almost all of the music-themed reaction channels have at least one Nightwish-themed video. Nightwish is one of the most watched bands, according to the numbers, which makes us one of the bands with the most reaction videos in the world on YouTube. The other bands that share the top spot with Nightwish include South Korean k-pop band BTS and Japanese metal band BABYMETAL. "Ghost Love Score" has the most reaction videos, with 1,400 different reaction videos and over 18 million views. And next week we are standing on the stage again in Finland!"
  25. Yes, a visit to Kitee and the expo is certainly on my bucket list, as well as attending a live concert on Finnish soil! I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed the virtual visit of the exhibition, it's well designed and such a great idea considering the travel restrictions and travel costs. It's the next best thing to being there, but eventually I will make it to see it with my own eyes! ๐Ÿ˜€ It's awesome to hear how many people from the band and team collaborated to the expo, and I was amazed by the quantity and quality of the items on show. It bears witness to the rich history of the band. I don't think I ever found all of the hidden owls though! ๐Ÿ˜‰ I do have many questions, so thank you for the offer, I'll try not to flood you! ๐Ÿ˜ In the biography, you wrote that Ewo talked you into the book project, but how did you get involved with Nightwish in the first place? Were you already collaborating with the label or the management on other projects? Cheers!
