Here's "A Hand On The Clock" featuring Floor on the new Star One album. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9z5hHWmW02Y I must say I like the song, pretty sharp musicianship and catchy tune. However, I don't know if it's the mix or only my headphones, but to my ears Floor is drowned by the guitar half of the time. For all the people saying that Tuomas isn't using Floor to her full potential (bollocks in my opinion) at least the Nightwish sound wizards let her voice shine fully above the heaviest riffs. Oh and then there's Irene (Jansen, her sister!) singing the alternate version of the same song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLCd9fNI1uA She's actually sounds great herself! I do question the idea of having both sisters sing the same song, especially since they end up having somewhat similar voices. 🤔
  2. Going back to the Imaginaerum tour, perhaps the first outfit Floor had designed specifically for Nightwish was this one by Scarlette Kara, a Finnish designer. It was first seen at the Imaginaerum movie premiere in Helsinki, November 2012. Prior to this, Floor wore mainly outfits from her ReVamp wardrobe. 3. Yes, I guess the band right now isn't very interested in the early years, especially with most of the original band members gone. But I find that period very charming, even if they have come a long way today in terms of musicianship and lyricism. But who knows, maybe eventually someone will have access to some of that material for a new documentary and we'll be treated to remastered footage of one of those shows! 😁 So it's really you, be welcome and it's great to have you here! Yes I've found your site some time ago while looking for footage or setlists from those early years, and I have probably linked to a number of your translated interviews here in the forums. There's really lots of stuff on your site that can't be found anywhere else, and I have probably only read 10% so far. Wow I had no clue about that hidden AFF page, now I know what I'll be reading tonight! 😄
  4. Hey thank you! 🤘 Wow I haven't watched End Of Innocence in a long while, and I completely missed that it had this segment of live material. 😮 It's unfortunate that no more is available, but I suspect the audio is pretty bad if they chose not to use the original sound recording. Thanks also for the photo ID, I saw it associated with the Tavastia bootleg but didn't want to assume it was taken during the same show. Toni Härkönen seems to have been a very active photographer on the Finnish metal scene back then. And by the way, are you Taikatalvi from the Taikatalvi fan site? 😀
  5. Unfortunately I have no childhood memories of the Snowman, it's not very well known in French Quebec, I only discovered it while I was living in the UK. The sequel (The Snowman and The Snowdog) is pretty neat too, and has a great song as well. I loved the way Nightwish covered "Walking in the Air", but sure thought the operatic vocals were a bit intense! I got over it eventually, but I really got into NW with Floor and even Anette before daring to explore Tarja's material. 😁
  6. The outfits for the Human Nature photo-shoots and shows were also designed and made by Royal Black Couture and Corsetry. From their Instagram on February 9, 2020: https://www.instagram.com/p/B8W__SYJ_yL/
  7. I don't think there's been any collaboration between Tarja and Anette, but there's at least this congratulatory 'conversation' in 2013. Anette's blog, August 24, 2013: http://anetteolzon2.blogspot.com/2013/08/i-am-sitting-listening-to-great-album.html I am sitting listening to a great album.... ...together with my morning coffee and the album is: ....Tarja´s new album "Colours in the dark". I can say that if you like Tarja, go and get this album on august 30th. It´s really her best album so far, even if I like them all, but she has definitely found her own style and this album is really great! I especially like the beautiful choirs and her voice is just perfect in all the songs and the guitar sound is great! http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-N5qmMkKVZYc/UhhhbQcdwMI/AAAAAAAAQAM/dJuVWas3P0I/s640/Tarja_Colors_Vinyl_edit1920x1080.jpg Read more here about the album and release date and where to buy it: http://www.tarja-coloursinthedark.com ENJOY this saturday!! Tarja's Facebook, 27 August 2013: https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=609848165702804&id=118974631456829 Today I found this in earMusic facebook. Very kind and nice gesture from Anette who has had a tough time in her career because of me...without me having anything to do with it Anette, thank you for listening to my new album and I am very happy that you liked it. The best of luck for your future! Anette's blog, August 27, 2013 http://anetteolzon2.blogspot.com/2013/08/thanks-dear-tarja.html THANKS dear Tarja... ...for your kind words that warm my heart and show me what a wonderful person you are and I hope we meet soon in person:-) all luck to you with such an amazing album! You´ve done a fantastic job!
  8. NW documentary Anette's Blog, September 19, 2013 http://anetteolzon2.blogspot.com/2013/09/nw-documentary.html Hi all, I get so many comments and questions about why I´m not participating in the upcoming NW dvd and as I´ve stated in the comments before it´s a decision I took due to me not being a part of the band anymore and therefore not having a way of controlling how my input would be in the documentary. This documentary was also not asked of me to be a part of until AFTER we split up. Then whatever my other reasons for this decision, how things ended and so on, is nothing I´m going to talk about at this moment. I respect your opinions in this matter but I ask of you all to respect mine too. Thanks and enjoy the day now;=) ANETTE OLZON – Careful What You ‘Wish For By Carl Begai, 2014.02.02 http://carlbegai.com/2014/02/02/anette-olzon-careful-what-you-wish-for/ “First of all, I didn’t think they would do the documentary because… what kind of documentary could it be?” she asks. “I could just see they could do something like what they did with Tarja to make it look like I was the evil person, because that’s what they’ve done before. I was really suspicious about the whole thing, and of course I was really angry because they fired me in a really bad way. I wasn’t happy about the situation. I didn’t want to be looked at in a weird way on a DVD, and I didn’t want to be compared with Floor. There were many reasons. I was angry, I didn’t want to have anything to do with them, and I didn’t want those comparisons again.”
  9. Yes I was trying to find this interview where Floor mentions that she gets the call from Nightwish and tells them to call back later! 🤣 Thank you! 🤘
  10. I have updated parts of this thread with more material, trying to tell a clearer tale of the events leading to Anette's departure and Floor's arrival in the middle of the Imaginaerum tour, and using band member's own words whenever possible. This is still work in progress, and your input is welcome!

From Facebook. So what is this crowdfunding about? Maybe they don't want to sign with a label but rather publish the album independently?
  12. Floor posted this teasing picture on September 29, 2012 on her Instagram feed. Nobody knew at the time that she was flying to the USA to join Nightwish. Something amazing was about to happen indeed, and it's still happening! 🙂
  13. Picking this up where I left it... The outfit Floor wore at Wacken in 2018, and other shows thereafter, was made by Royal Black Couture and Corsetry from Vienna, Austria. From their Instagram on August 5, 2018: https://www.instagram.com/p/BmG9ZaXgOis/ It's not my favourite stage outfit of hers, but Floor does look great in what appears to be a rather uncomfortable attire -- but what do I know? 😁
  14. Original CDs seem to be durable enough, but burnt CD-Rs are less so. I do have a number of file backups on CD-R/CD-RWs and every once in a while I wonder if they're still readable. But I never do anything about it. 🙄😁

    Johanna Kurkela

From her last solo album in 2015. Also the year she and Tuomas got married, but I'm not implying anything. 😁
  16. It must be this one, right? There have been so many different releases of AFF over the years, yet I don't think that any has managed to include every track of the first release plus the demo. Could be that the total track length wouldn't fit on a single CD though. I love "Once Upon A Troubadour", it's so different from their other songs, and it's also (with The Carpenter) the song where Tuomas sings the most. Ok he's not great, but he's also very low in the mix and that doesn't help. But my favourite bit is when he signs with Tarja and I think it works! Tuomas may not be a born lead singer, but just like Troy and Floor he and Tarja could have sung more harmonies together. 🤩
  17. I've been listening to this, and musically it sometimes reminds me of the very early Nightwish material, with a combination of keys, flute and guitar, slow rythms and overall simple arrangements, just heavier. I find it more melodic and enjoyable than most Darkwoods My Betrothed works... but I just can't get into that Pasi guy's voice. The dude can't sing, they might as well have begged Tuomas to sing instead! 😁 But it's of course in the ear of the beholder! https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_koRYPeDAsl9sqGCzH5u43w-xdu9bZmAiw

    Aina

I've listened to the whole album a few times, and it's really growing on me! Rock opera describes it well, it's got catchy melodies, varied musical themes and perhaps a hint of progressive rock. A summary of the story can be found on Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aina_(band) There's even a second disk of extra material for those interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9aJiZPOocPw
  19. And here's an alternate version of the latest Outlanders single: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UeTEmyyGLdc
  20. On top of the show audio, the video for Slow, Love, Slow was also released this morning. It's really a good performance, and it reminds me of the Imaginareum tour when there was an acoustic mid-gig break with Slow, Love, Slow, The Islander and Nemo (if I remember correctly), and Jukka hitting his drum box. 🙂

Same here! I'm also very curious about the next Delain release, but no news on that front recently.

Here's what the new album will look like, no release date yet.
  23. Full show audio recording is now available on most streaming platforms. Details here.
  24. Here's the YouTube link for the AFAS concert audio playlist, not available in my time zone yet. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mLZzMWRqu0w8qQEIM-BU2dUGevVRA98lE Other streaming platforms: https://stream.floorjansen.com/liveinamsterdam
  25. Interesting! So this is the singer of Darkwoods, but in a different vocal style? I'm not a big fan of the singing in Darkwoods either, but I'm curious to hear Tuomas playing. There's a positive review on Encyclopaedia Metallum, and I understand the keys have a proeminent role on this album.
