  1. As posted elsewhere, the last shows of the year in Finland will also be postponed by one month, in the hopes that shows will be allowed again by then. The 2021 World Tour will have amounted to 2 virtual shows and 4 live shows in all. ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ https://www.hs.fi/kulttuuri/art-2000008494009.html Must I add that if they plan on playing Tampere on January 22, they have obviously given up on the China tour scheduled for January 18-23. ๐Ÿค”
  2. Well there's good and bad news... Yes the shows will be postponed, but only by a month for now, probably hoping for a quick resolution of the current epidemic peak. ๐Ÿค” https://www.hs.fi/kulttuuri/art-2000008494009.html
  3. This is one I had missed in my YouTube search, a nearly complete audio recording of the Turku show (February 13, 1999), including rare material such as Moondance and Know Why The Nightingale Sings. And of course, one can never have too much Tuomas singing on Beauty And The Beast. ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ˜ #guiltypleasures
  4. I don't know if there will be any mention of Nightwish in this documentary, but it may be of interest. Nightwish played one of their first shows at Tavastia and it's the only availble recording from their first tour. DOCPOINT TAKES THE AUDIENCE TO THE LEGENDARY ROCK CLUB โ€“ TAVASTIA CLUB DOCUMENTARY WILL PREMIERE AT TAVASTIA DocPoint โ€“ Helsinki Documentary Film Festival will premiere a film about the history of Tavastia Club in cooperation with Tavastia. 5. I'm sorry to hear the bad news and the chances of live shows growing dim. It's pretty much a copy-paste situation here with number of infections growing exponentially and new restrictions coming up every other day... Including music shows that have been just been shut down starting today. It's all very disheartening, and this is all perfectly timed to ruin any hope of proper Christmas/New Year celebrations. ๐Ÿ™ Finnish expletives are in order, you should probably teach me some! ๐Ÿ˜„ I actually know one starting with p... (thank you Nightwish) but I'm not sure of its proper usage, so it's probably better I abstain from using it! Anyway, the mood in the band and crew must be even worse, it's their way and means of living being completely negated by this pandemic.
  6. Jukka's goodbye letter and a video that was published when he stepped back -- temporarily it was thought -- from drumming (August 6, 2014).
  7. Crossing fingers that you can attend those shows while staying reasonably safe! ๐Ÿคž It would also be another tough hit to the band if they had to cancel the local shows. I don't know about the upcoming China dates, but I wouldn't bet that they will actually travel in January. So that would take them to May before any possible live action. ๐Ÿค”
  8. The official NW website has just been rebuilt, and has a bit more information than it used to. Of note, a new (I think?) band biography here. Also a greater selection of pictures can be found on the various band member and album pages.
  9. I didn't even know of this recording! A live performance of Planet Hell filmed at the SIR Studios in Los Angeles, during the rehearsals for the Imaginaerum tour in January 2012. Spirits appear to be high at that point in time.
  10. Some random footage from touring Europe in 2008, from what I can gather mostly from Prague in February 2008. Sightseeing, rehearsals, some Poet And The Pendulum drum action during the actual show.
  11. Thank you! ๐Ÿค˜๐Ÿคฉ Stay safe as well.. How are things looking for the concerts in Tampere and Helsinki? ๐Ÿ™
  12. Oh boy, the quiz is back with a vengeance! ๐Ÿ˜ Tough questions this week! Yes, you can expect an extra quiz this week, probably Wednesday or Thursday depending on how I manage at work. I have some time off coming up, but it's also the biggest Covid outbreak ever around here just in time for the Holidays (again!) ๐Ÿ™„
  13. This week's live release is Mama, Floor's cover of Samantha Steenwijk's song, first performed at Beste Zangers. Nicely done!
  14. I'm not reposting every single video that Floor releases on her YouTube, but I thought this new series is promising. In the first instalment of "Floor's Music Corner", she reminisces about her first demo with After Forever, Ephemeral, back in 1999. Looking forward to more of this! And here's a link to the music from that demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMBnW7iRonk
  15. A keynote interview with Tuomas during the East European Music Conference held in Sibiu, Romania. https://www.facebook.com/EastEuropeanMusicConference/videos/653759775649807 Some highlights: Auri 2 (the second album) took about 6-7 months to make from start to finish. Most of the recording was done either at Tuomas' or Troy's place. Tuomas has been obsessed with Nightwish work in the last few months, the foundations of 7 songs have been mapped. There are no plans to start rehearsing and recording the new album before the planned date of Summer 2023. The virtual show idea was proposed to Tuomas as soon as Spring 2020, at the time there was no interest from the band but it eventually grew on them. Tuomas reiterates that a Blu-Ray will be released with the virtual show. The tavern idea came from Toxic Angel, without input from the band. The band has toyed with the idea of including digital elements (like holograms) in future shows. Despite the struggles, the crew members (Crewish) have stuck on board, and Tuomas values personal relationships with the crew members above business relationships. Tuomas would be excited about Crewish supporting the band during live shows one day.
  16. Some good and bad news concerning Marko: Northern Kings are also going to play the Himos Metal Festival in August 2022. But Marko will miss the rest of the Raskasta Joulua tour due to unspecified illness. ๐Ÿค•
  17. Pretty good for a 2-hour project! I like the layering up to a pretty complex beat. ๐Ÿ‘
  18. I was listening to this pro shot from (of all places) Columbus Ohio, unfortunately only 5 songs but the quality is on par with the Vehicle of Spirit DVD recordings. I don't know who was shooting and why, and I couldn't find the rest of the show but it's another quality video from the EMFB tour. ๐Ÿ”ฅ 7 Days To The Wolves ร‰lan I Want My Tears Back Storytime Weak Fantasy
  19. You were generous, I didn't quite deserve 9/10!
  20. Good! ๐Ÿค˜ More quizzes the better! I'll get working on that extra quiz specially made for Quiz Masters. ๐Ÿ˜ˆ
  21. Hey Irish John, welcome to the forum! Lucky that you were able to catch them in 2005! The band has changed so much since, yet they're still delivering exciting and emotional music. I find that most of the time people are biased towards the era when they discovered or fell in love with the band -- the biggest Anette fans will have discovered the band after Tarja was replaced, and new fans are mainly Floor fans even if they buy and listen to the older albums. It's also true in other fandoms. Probably has to do with what feels familiar and with the strong emotions involved when you discover a new band or that first live show. I guess it's harder for new fans to grow a liking for Tarja or Anette when it's Floor they see live and on YouTube. It's like Marko leaving... I don't think that there will ever be (in my mind) an equal replacement in the band. ๐Ÿค”
  22. Here's a fantastic piece of archive! Floor singing "She Is My Sin"... in 2006! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Definitely worth a listen, she sings it in a completely different, operatic style closer to the original. June 17 2006, W2 Concertzaal, s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands This was around the time that Nightwish were auditioning for a new singer... coincidence surely? ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
  23. Now if GLS reactions aren't enough, you can read a blog about the song. https://www.charliecalotta.com/blog/merging-classical-music-with-heavy-metal-nightwish-floor-jansen
  24. Nice to hear live versions of these Northward songs that would otherwise live only as studio tracks! The mid-song bridge-solo is a bit soft compared to the original but again this is probably intentional as the audience is comprised of many new fans who only know of her Beste Zangers stuff. For reference, this is the original Northward track and lyric video:
  25. I might do a special Holidays quiz at some point during the break, so that you get a chance to answer questions instead of hunting for them for a change! ๐Ÿ˜
