I don't know much about New Age, except that for a couple of years when I was very young I used to listen to a lot of New Age music, but I didn't know anything about a philosophy behind the music. I still don't know anything about that. I don't know if Tarja was connected to any of this, because after all it's Tuomas writing the lyrics. She probably had some esoteric beliefs, there was this Romanian healing man that she blindly trusted (it was mentioned in the band biography), but what else she was into is not very clear to me. Perhaps with her book coming out soon we will learn more about that side of her. I don't know much about Tarot, and I wouldn't know where to start. If there was a "starter" album for them, which one would it be?

Oh yeah, that cover was FIRE! The album previous to that, Comalies, is also very good. They had a few big hits that allowed them to breakthrough in America.

Ahah oh yes it's totally them, no photoshop or anything... 😁 And it didn't really fit the music, even though the music was more melancholic it wasn't "new age" either. They did hate the image though, so eventually they decided to reissue the album with a new cover, and a pretty boring one too. But this one is bonkers!

Lacuna Coil is the first European "metal" band I discovered back very many years ago, and I still love what they do even though their music got generally heavier over the years. I loved their early albums, very hard to define as a genre, and very quirky. That original "In A Reverie" album cover photo, so not-metal! 🤣 Let me find that again... There:

That makes sense, that performance at the World Championships mush have cost the band more in ruined material than whatever amount they were paid to play that one song. But considering the huge product placement, I'm sure Korg and the others were more than happy to provide replacement equipment.

It wasn't Marko writing the book, so I wonder how well the book reflects Marko's views and opinions. It's an official, approved biography though so at the very least he must have read and commented on it.

A new teaser has been released, it sounds pretty good! Some atmospheric mellow moments but also more dynamic ones, and Johanna's voice makes everything better. First single this fall, the full album in 2022.

First update about the tour in a long while, Nightwish will take part in Knotfest 12-13 August 2022 in Turku Finland. AND... This is on the Ticketmaster page: May 6 2022, seems legit! It would be the night just before Boston, which is a reasonable travel distance. But I already have super expensive tickets for Boston... what to do, what to do?! 😲 <cue nervous breakdown>

I don't know Omnium Gatherum except for the name, but I'm not well versed in death metal. Feel free to discuss those bands though, this is what the Music forum is about. Moving your topic to the "live" section... Good stuff! The Rauma show is a good recording, I would have loved a DVD made out of it. We do have many songs from the tour on "End Of Innocence" but more is always better! 😁 As for the Top of the Pops performance, well it's playback so musically it's the usual but the camera work is excellent, especially if one is looking for close-ups of Tarja's eyes, mouth or nostrils lol! 😆 Weirdly there's not a single close-up of Marko, while the others get their fair share.

Yes they were the same event with Apocalyptica. They only performed this one song, and it was playback not even a real performance. I wonder how keyboards and guitars fare under pouring rain, even though they're not plugged in!

Good stuff! They were lucky enough to perform before it started raining (see the Nightwish performance at the same event)... Cellos and rain probably don't mix well. Anyway... I'm still waiting for their show in Montreal Canada, I have tickets since 2019 and of course everything keeps being postponed again and again. 😐

Nice avatar by the way. 👍 Nemo was (and is) probably Nightwish's biggest hit in the mainstream, so it probably helped them expand a lot beyond the metal world -- although they were already huge stars in Finland already by then. I like the piece you have on YouTube, it's pretty intricate. 🤘 Do you plan on releasing more?

A surprise recording from the vaults! Over The Hills And Far Away sang by Floor during the Imaginaerum tour, it's a welcome release since this song isn't on any of Floor's live albums. The photo selection is nice too, many more recent photos never seen before! 👍
